Why Am I Writing This?

Welcome to my new blog!

You're probably wondering why a Christian has a blog about Harry Potter. Let me give a little backstory: I didn't want to read the series. But somebody claimed that Dumbledore could beat up Gandalf, so I needed to gather info to figure out how to refute this argument, and since Dumbledore's in the ENTIRE series.... yeah, I ended up reading them all. And lost the bet. And ended up discovering a new series that was actually great (yes, I grumbled about it for about 5 days. That I actually liked it.)

The problem is, most Christians don't really now Harry Potter. They know the name, the genre, etc., but it is never fully explained. We just get: "Harry's a wizard" and that's the end. But that isn't it. In the upcoming posts I shall address the usage of 'witchcraft and wizardry', in that how they are penned and how the magic system works, etc., in hopes of clarifying the series for those who are curious to know or anxious about what their kids are reading.

The Harry Potter universe is somewhat complicated, so I think that a blog format will be more useful than just one big whopping essay.

That's what this blog is for. Explaining the world of Harry Potter, why it's so popular, why kids in particular like it, why teens like it, it's lasting messages, what the magic really is, and plus a whole bunch of smaller details that I just really like which help contribute to it having the world-wide legacy the series has.

(P.S. Lord of the Rings is still better!)
